Pastor for Worship and Music
Mike has served as pastor for worship and music since 1989. He is a graduate of Bryan College, Dayton, TN (B.A. in Music and Christian Education), Southwestern Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX (M.A. in Religious Education), and the Robert Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, FL (Doctorate in Worship Studies). Mike and his wife, Tammy, have a passion to disciple children, students, and adults, engaging with them in the worship of the triune God.
Pastor to Students
Bo has served as pastor to students at University Hills since 2010. He and his wife, Allison, have 3 children: Ella Grace, Hannah, and Caleb. Bo has a passion to see students, their families, and Connect Groups gripped by the Gospel and living together as Gospel-centered communities on mission. Bo is a graduate of Columbia International University and of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv, 2013).
Director of Kids Ministry
Amy Washburn began serving as the Director of Children’s Ministries in March 2019. She received her Master Teacher Training, Leadership, and Children’s Ministry Certificates at the Children’s Ministry Institute. Amy has served as Youth and Children’s Director at Durham Memorial Baptist Church of Charlotte and has worked for Child Evangelism Fellowship of Charlotte as a Ministry Coordinator. Amy spent a year in Costa Rica with Score International doing intensive Bible training, learning Spanish, and serving in missions. She has a passion for children! Amy loves serving in Children’s Ministries and is excited to be involved in what the Lord is doing! She wants the kids to hear about Jesus, trust in Jesus, and grow in Jesus!
Kristin began working as our Ministry Assistant in February 2016. She graduated from Liberty University in 2008, and she and her husband, Billy, have been married since 2013. Kristin is excited to serve with University Hills, assisting the staff in spreading the Gospel day-to-day!
Jane Gaultney began serving in the UHBC Music Ministry in 1992, playing keyboard and handbells and worshiping through music with some of the most wonderful people in the world. During the rest of the week she is a professor of Psychological Sciences and Health Psychology at UNC Charlotte.
Organist and Choral Assistant
In March 2016, Michael began serving as the organist and choral assistant at University Hills. Of course he enjoys playing organ, piano, and handbells, but he especially enjoys Wednesday night choir rehearsals and the choir retreats. When he's not playing or practicing at UHBC, you can find him playing oldies and movie themes on the piano in the Charlotte Airport Atrium, at home composing music, or at Chick-fil-a in his special marketing role.
